Route
From the car park, take the road towards Passo del Vivione and, at the church of St. Barbara, dedicated to miners, continue along the path that climbs to the right of the church, entering the woods. The climb is gradual, alternating between forest sections and clearings.
This section of the route passes several mountain huts, which are not open in winter, until you reach Cimalbosco after about 40-50 minutes of walking, where you will find the Bagozza mountain hut. The hut is usually open all year round, even in winter.
Once you reach the Bagozza Mountain Hut, continue along the path on the right which leads into the woods and towards the Campelli glades.
This is where the magic begins: Dolomitic mountains and dreamlike landscapes. At the first fork, we recommend turning right and continuing to the plain where you will find the Madonnina dei Campelli, a statue by local artist Tomaso Pizio. The view opens up onto the Campelli basin, the surrounding Alpine peaks and Cimon della Bagozza.
Continuing on, you reach Malga Campelli Alta, at an average altitude of 1,800-1,820 metres. The trail becomes more open, with no technical difficulties. Continue to Passo dei Campelli (1,892 metres), the gateway between Val di Scalve and Valle Camonica. On a clear day, you can admire the Adamello mountain range.
Shortly after the Campelli Pass, following the CAI 159 trail, you will reach the Campione Hut (altitude ~1,946 m). The refuge is open all year round and offers refreshments, overnight accommodation and services. Reservations are recommended for lunch.
EXTRA: from the Campione Refuge, you can continue on to the summit of Monte Campioncino. Just a few extra metres that offer great satisfaction.
During winter, the area is not particularly prone to avalanches or snow slides. However, we recommend that you plan your excursion carefully, bringing the correct equipment with you and checking the snow conditions and route by contacting mountain huts or tourist offices.
