Sentiero della Madonnina – The blue path

The Colored Trails are the result of a project to restore abandoned paths in the municipality of Colere, managed by the Alpini group. Many secondary routes, which are not included or only partially included in the C.A.I. classification, have been recovered, enhanced, and marked with different colors. Traditionally, they were used for collecting mushrooms, firewood, straw, and small berries; today, they represent a traditional heritage that keeps the historical memory of the community alive.

Starting point:

The Madonnina Trail, or Blue Trail, starts from the center of Colere, specifically from Via Riaga: a mule track that descends next to the kindergarten and connects the village to the small hamlet of Valzella.

Route:

At the top of the village, turn right to reach the Sabbionera area along a pleasant little road that passes through a forest of beeches, ash trees, and hazels.

Trail through forest

After leaving this small road, turn right onto the actual trail, which will soon lead you past the now-ruined farmhouse in the Creta area and finally to the final destination, the Santuario della Madonnina, and then into the hamlet of Dezzo di Scalve.

Santuario della Madonnina

The return to Colere follows the same path as the outward journey until the Creta area, where you turn left to reach the Rino di Sotto farmhouse and take a steep mule track that will lead you back to the Rino bridge. Immediately after the bridge, turn left onto a path that will bring you back to the village center in a few minutes.

Trail back to Colere

Compared to other itineraries, this route is not very panoramic, as it develops almost entirely through the forest and towards the valley floor; however, it is particularly interesting from a naturalistic point of view due to the rich variety of plants and shrubs you can encounter.
