Roby Piantoni climbing wall – Pian di Vione
The cliff at Pian di Vione was a training ground for the historic Colere mountaineers who first climbed some of the lines on these walls. Some old pitons driven into the cracks, used by these pioneers for protection and sometimes to aid their progress, are still visible today.
The idea of equipping this cliff at Pian di Vione in a modern style and fully exploiting its potential came in 2009 from the skilled Colere mountain guide Roby Piantoni, who tragically passed away in the Himalayas.
Every year, on June 2nd, the traditional gathering at the cliff takes place to commemorate him on his birthday.

Roby himself had studied and developed a detailed project; the bolting was later carried out thanks to the involvement of Roby’s family and the contribution of the Colere Alpine Group. The operational work was done by guides Yuri Parimbelli and Marco Tiraboschi, with valuable support from Scalve Vertical Group.
Roby Piantoni cliff features many routes of low and medium difficulty on generally excellent rock and with a wide variety of climbing styles. Routes range from slab climbing on friction, slabs with pockets and edges, some overhangs, to slightly overhanging walls with small holds where the difficulty is higher.
The rock is clearly limestone, and some pitches unfortunately remain wet after frequent periods of rain. Climbing is recommended during the summer months.
