Teveno – Mount Barbarossa
Starting from the hamlet of Teveno in Vilminore di Scalve, a moderately difficult itinerary. Exciting route, but pay particular attention to snow and avalanche conditions.
Technical Data
Difficulty: moderate
Elevation gain: about 1000 meters
Estimated time: 4/5 hours
Starting point
The starting point for this itinerary is the parking lot of the sports field in the hamlet of Teveno, Vilminore di Scalve (elevation 1140 m). Parking is free during the winter season. Parking location.
Route
From the parking lot, follow the wide mule track until entering a forest. The cart track continues through evergreen woods, tackling several slopes, and finally opens up in the last section to reach the area near Malga Bassa di Barbarossa (1704 m).

By going around it, continue a gentle ascent westwards to reach Malga Barbarossa (1832 m). A steep slope then leads to a basin at the base of the summit (2050 m).

Next, head to the pass on the right of the summit and, if the conditions of the final ridge allow, take the short, bushy north ridge on the left, which leads without difficulty to the summit (2148 m). The return is along the same ascent route.

The ascent of Monte Barbarossa, during some periods of winter after heavy snowfall and in sunny periods, can be extremely dangerous. Therefore, in addition to carrying an avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel, we recommend contacting the tourist offices or the local CAI subsection if you plan to follow this itinerary.
