MTB through Some and Corna Busa

Main stops: Schilpario – Baite Some – Corna Busa – Schilpario

The forest trails, high mountain meadows, mountain huts and untouched nature are the protagonists of this route. Short steep sections require pushing the mountain bike, but the views of the Presolana, the Pizzo Camino basin, and Corna Busa are unmatched. The technical downhill sections are full of adrenaline, with narrow trails, small streams, scenic waterfalls and fast passages through the woods.

Giudizio:

Technical advice:

Always carry caution, good manners, respect and courtesy. Pay attention to marked trail deviations. Carefully evaluate weather conditions before starting.

Route Description:

The starting point is Schilpario, at the Piazzale degli Alpini parking area. Turn left onto Via Serta and follow the road toward the Pradella hamlet. Pass the San Marco restaurant and, between the church and the fountain, turn left onto the road going uphill. It soon becomes a dirt road. After a short distance, keep right and go slightly downhill along the trail, which will start climbing again.

Farther on, the trail joins a wider, more maintained road that ascends with some paved stretches. Once you reach a farmhouse at the top of a steep climb, catch your breath on a flatter section. A gentle up-and-down path takes you to Colle. Continue straight along the main road and follow the sharp bend toward Baite Some. After a more pronounced undulating stretch, you will reach Some (a meadow on the slope with characteristic restored barns). Continue on the main trail to the end of the meadow.

WATCH FOR THE NEXT TURN

At the crossroads, turn left onto the uphill road. Follow the trail faithfully through several challenging climbs until reaching the Malghe Negrino (lower, middle, and upper huts). At Malga Negrino Alto, the road ends. You can rest here and enjoy views of the Presolana and the scenic Pizzo Camino basin. (In summer, alpine cheese can be bought at the Malga.)

Facing the hut, resume your journey to the left by taking CAI trail 425. This stretch of about 20 minutes requires carrying your bike. Once you reach Passo di Corna Busa, you will see that your efforts are rewarded by the magnificent views of the Pizzo Camino basin. Before descending, be sure to visit Corna Busa itself – a spectacular hollow rock formation.

Turn left, push for another 5 minutes, and take a short break. Then return to the pass and begin the most thrilling part of the route. Drop your saddle and enjoy the technical descent to the Malga di Val di Voglia.

When you reach the road by the malga, you’ll find CAI signs – continue downhill along the dirt road toward Schilpario. The descent is steep, partly dirt and partly cemented.

WATCH FOR THE NEXT TURN

After the second bend, keep an eye to the left for a trail leading to a small waterfall. Cross the wooden footbridge and, after a few more pedal strokes, descend through the woods. When you reach a narrow dirt road, keep descending until you top a meadow – you are now near Schilpario.

Keep to the right downhill, cross a small bridge, and follow the trail along the stream all the way down. It leads to a cement road, follow it to the end, and you will arrive back at the Piazzale degli Alpini, your original starting point.
