Rifugio Campione
The Rifugio Campione is located on the border between the Val di Scalve and the Val Camonica, next to the Conca dei Campelli.
The vast area is divided between the municipalities of Schilpario, on the sunnier side, and Cerveno, Ono San Pietro, Capo di Ponte, and Paisco, which are located on the side of the Oglio River.
In winter, the area is popular among snowshoers and ski mountaineers due to the low difficulty of the path and the low risk of avalanches.
Reaching the Rifugio from Val di Scalve
Once you reach by car the Cimalbosco area (in winter, up to the Fondi area, with paid parking), which is on the road from Schilpario to the Passo del Vivione, leave your car outside the road and head towards the entrance of the mule track on the right. This will guide you on a beautiful walk through the stunning Conca dei Campelli.
After passing the Madonnina dei Campelli, a bronze sculpture overlooking the Cimon della Bagozza, you will reach the Passo dei Campelli and just beyond, the Rifugio.
This route is also suitable for children.
Reaching the Rifugio from Valle Camonica
From Ono San Pietro in Val Camonica, the ascent is more challenging due to the greater altitude’s difference.
Times
In winter: Saturday, holidays, and Christmas vacation – open all day; from mid-June to mid-September – open every day all day. Please check the Rifugio’s Facebook page for up-to-date opening information.
